Meet Our Founders
Jametta A. Davis, PhD
Jametta A. Davis is a historian, documentarian, and currently has began her entrepreneurial venture as founder of her own training and life coaching business. She also serves as an Appraisal Archivist for the National Archives and Records Administration. She received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in history from Old Dominion University and North Carolina Central University, respectively. She also received her Ph.D. from Howard University where she studied United States history with a focus of the African American experience and minored in African Diaspora and public histories. Dr. Davis has received numerous honors and volunteers for a number of community programs.
Motivated by her experiences, a strong desire to give back, and the historical legacy of black women’s self-help efforts to improve communities, Dr. Davis seeks to instill in young people a sense of self-worth, confidence, cultural awareness and exposure to numerous global opportunities.

Melba Y. Smith, MA
Melba Y. Smith is in her eighteenth year at Elizabeth City State University having served as the Director of Television Services for W18BB-TV. She also serves as an adjunct faculty member in the department of Language, Literature & Communication and advisor for the ECSU Mass Media Club. Melba is a graduate of James Madison University with a B.S. in Media Arts & Design with a concentration in Television Production and a graduate of Regent University with a M.A. in Communication with a concentration in Directing & Editing for Film.
She was honored to be a 2004 and 2005 recipient of Who's Who Among America's Teachers; a two-time finalist for the Hampton Roads Black Media Professional Excel Award; a 2005 recipient of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Faculty Seminar Fellowship, and a 2010 National Council of Negro Women Black Pearl Award in Education recipient.
Melba is also a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.

Shavonta Green, MPP, MAL
Shavonta L. Green-Floyd has always had a passion for education and community advocacy and considers herself a life-long learner. She graduated from James Madison University with her B.A. in Political Science in 2000. Thereafter, she interned and worked as a congressional staffer for Rep. Corrine Brown, as the Special Assistant to the Chief of Staff. In 2005, she received her Master's in Public Policy from Regent University, while working full-time as a congressional analyst for the US Air Force and as a member of the United State Air Force Reserves.
She is a realtor in Va, Md and DC helping her clients realize their real estate goals. She has volunteered with local youth as an Odyssey of the Mind coach for 4 years and served as PTA President at her daughter's school for multiple years. She has also served on several county boards such as the Community Action Advisory Board and the Mount Vernon Council of Civic Association's Education Committee.
